| Dead Man's Cell Phone |
Andrew is composer and music director for this production of Sarah Ruhl's play. Direction by Marshall B. Garrett, choreography by Chrisi Janney, and music performed by the Midnight Moon Ensemble. "There are only one or two sacred places left in the world. Where there is no ringing. The church, the theatre, and the toilet." So says Mrs. Gottlieb at the funeral of her son, Gordon. Little does she know that the ringing cell phone at the service is that of her son, held by Jean. Upon a stranger's death, Jean takes his phone and begins to connect to the world he lived in, and is forced to confront that he is not the man she assumed he was. A tale of love, morality, and the need to connect on a human level in a technologically obsessed world. For the first time, the Milburn Stone Theatre puts the action in the center of the audience for a theatre in the round experience of this poetic fantasy. |

| As You Like It |
"At various places in the script of As You Like It, Shakespeare writes lyrics for songs meant to be sung, but no music is provided. I am honored that director Marshall B. Garrett has asked me to write music for this production, and very excited that a talented cast will be singing them." - Andrew Considered by many to be Shakespeare’s greatest romantic comedy, “As You Like It” will be presented in the Milburn Stone Theatre on the North East campus Jan. 27, 28 and 29 and Feb. 3, 4 and 5. Incorporating issues of banishment, cross dressing, a clever clown, and escape into the forest from an evil Duke, “As You Like It” becomes a sort of “greatest hits” piece with elements from “Twelfth Night,” “Two Gentlemen of Verona,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” and “Romeo and Juliet.” Introducing professional actress Carly Stocking as Rosalind, the daughter of the banished duke is in turn banished to the forest, where she decides to dress as a man to avoid potential attackers. Luckily, her wooer, Orlando, played by Russell Matthews; also escapes into the same forest from his scheming older brother. Great love and mistaken identity converge when Orlando meets Rosalind’s male alter ego “Ganymede,” and asks to be taught how to win the love of Rosalind. Additional love stories abound throughout the show, and Rosalind’s banished father oversees all in the magical Forest of Arden. |
“As You Like It” begins at 8 p.m. Jan. 27 and 28 and Feb. 3 and 4, and at 3 p.m. Jan. 29 and Feb. 5.
